Portable power station runtime calculator — with a live shortlist
Ask the living-room questions — fridge, window AC, microwave, space heater — then see which of our 107 models clear Carry, Start and Run on published specs. A clear “no” for heaters and many ACs is part of the product.
People ask — can it run…?
Full trip kits
Full-size kitchen fridge for one day. Start surge is the usual killer; duty cycle keeps daily Wh honest. Edit watts to match your door sticker.

Dataset answer
40 of 107 models look workable. Top matches below balance inverter headroom, capacity and value.
Four gates: Carry (continuous AC ≥ running watts), Start (surge), Run (usable Wh for the window), Refill (solar, when enabled). Defaults are typical nameplate ranges — edit them to match your appliance label. Usable capacity assumes 85% inverter efficiency and 90% depth of discharge. WattPicks does not test power stations.

Frequently asked
Can a portable power station run a fridge?
Often yes for a kitchen or camping fridge, if continuous output and surge clear the compressor and usable watt-hours cover the day. Use the fridge chips, then edit watts to match your appliance label.
Can a portable power station run a window air conditioner?
Sometimes a small window unit for a few hours on a large station; often no. Window and RV roof ACs need high continuous watts and a hard start surge. Central / whole-home AC is not a portable-station job.
What about a microwave, kettle or space heater?
These are high continuous (or resistance-heat) loads. Capacity is rarely the blocker for a few minutes of microwave; multi-hour heaters usually fail Run. The presets are meant to show that clearly.
Can it run a CPAP?
Usually yes overnight without a heated humidifier. With a humidifier, draw jumps — use that chip and confirm your machine’s label. This is energy math, not medical advice.
Can a portable power station charge an EV?
No in any practical Level-2 sense. The EV chip is there so the calculator can say zero passes instead of implying a maybe.
Are the runtimes measured?
No. They are calculated from vendor-published capacity and your load inputs, with stated assumptions (85% inverter efficiency, 90% usable depth of discharge, 70% solar derate). WattPicks does not test power stations.
