This is the ranking most buyers actually want: how much stored energy each machine buys per dollar of list price. It is the fastest way to see which brands are selling hardware and which are selling a name.

There is no single best power station, because the specs trade off against each other. The lightest unit is never the cheapest per watt-hour, and the fastest-charging unit is never the lightest. So we publish one leaderboard per dimension instead of one list that is wrong for almost everyone.
Every ranking is computed only from specs the vendor actually publishes, and a unit is excluded from a ranking it does not publish the inputs for. Missing data is never estimated. 76 models across 7 brands in the current dataset.

Portability is the spec buyers regret most. A unit that is too heavy to carry gets left at home, at which point its capacity is worth nothing.
Capacity tells you how long a unit runs; output tells you what it can run at all. A station with a small battery and a large inverter can boil a kettle or start a pump, while a bigger battery with a small inverter cannot.
Recharge speed decides whether a station is a tool or a chore. A unit that refills in an hour gets used between errands; one that takes eight hours sits empty.
Off-grid, the array is often larger than what the station will accept. A unit capped at 200 W of solar input will waste most of a 600 W array, no matter how good the panels are.
Expandability is the difference between a purchase and a platform. A unit that accepts extra batteries can grow with a van build or a household, while a sealed one has to be replaced entirely.
Cycle life is the quiet spec. Two units with identical capacity can differ by a factor of eight in how much energy they will deliver before the battery degrades to 80%.
If the job is running a circular saw, a pump or a microwave rather than powering a fridge overnight, output matters more than capacity. This ranking measures how much inverter you get per dollar.
Home backup is the one use where a fast transfer time, a high enough continuous rating and enough capacity all have to be true at once. A unit that fails any one of the three is not a backup unit, whatever its capacity.
Warranty is the one after-sales promise a buyer can verify before spending money, and it varies enormously in this category — from a single year to five, on hardware that costs several hundred dollars.
Noise is rarely on a spec sheet and almost always noticed later. It matters most for CPAP users, tent campers and anyone running a unit in a van or bedroom overnight.
Each ranking page states the formula it uses, in terms you could reproduce with a calculator, and states what the metric deliberately ignores. That last part matters more than the ranking itself: “best value per watt-hour” is a real answer to a real question, but it is a bad answer to “what should I take camping”, where weight and recharge speed dominate.
Where a metric is capacity-sensitive — portability above all — the page breaks the list into capacity bands as well as showing an all-comers table, because a 300 Wh unit will always beat a 5 kWh unit on watt-hours per pound and that comparison tells you nothing useful.
